According to Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “anti-masses” policies may make it more difficult for him to be reelected in 2027.
The governor claimed that the policies being carried out by the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress, or APC, were causing suffering for the general populace.
The governor had previously voiced his displeasure with President Tinubu’s recent nationwide broadcast following the #EndBadGovernance demonstration, according to the DAILY POST.
Before giving the speech, the governor had claimed that no discussions with state governors had taken place.
He added that there is a significant divide in the nation between the governing and the governed and that the president’s address did not accurately represent the situation on the ground.
Speaking on Wednesday at the Alhaji Rilwanu Adamu Suleiman square, Government House, to kick off the state PDP local government election campaign, the governor asked President Tinubu to alter his policies as they were failing.
Mohammed added, “I am urging President Tinubu to change this policy because it is not working and will affect everyone, regardless of political party.” Mohammed is also the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, Governors’ Forum.
“If he keeps doing this, by 2027,
“As the opposition, we recognise that it is time for governance,” he continued. To keep the political atmosphere from getting too heated, we have remained patient.
But the federal government is acting in a way that stirs up agitation. We respectfully demand that this cease.
The demonstrators’ and youths’ concerns have been heard by the PDP and its governors, as well as by other governors.
However, the federal government keeps making justifications. They must put an end to this behaviour. We don’t take the confidence of the people for granted. After exerting much effort to ensure sound governance, we are now taking the next step.
