The high number of malnourished children in Katsina State has been bemoaned by Ali Nuhu and Sadau Ramah, the UNICEF Global Champions.
During a news conference on Thursday in Katsina, the UNICEF global champions urged all parties involved to step up their efforts to combat malnutrition in order to lower the rate of child death.
Champions for Children belong to a special group of UNICEF supporters and are a vital component of our family. According to the UN, they assist UNICEF in enhancing services related to health, nutrition, and education for children worldwide.
In the meantime, PUNCH revealed that the state government and UNICEF made attempts to combat malnutrition on Wednesday by acquiring nutritional supplements valued at N400 million, which will be given to 8,000 undernourished children throughout the state’s 34 local government districts.
During a field inspection of a few local government units in the state, Nuhu spoke and said he was appalled by the amount of undernourished youngsters he had observed.
“What we observed was pitiful. We even observed an increase in the quantity of undernourished youngsters being brought to health clinics.
Nuhu stated, “It is imperative that stakeholders, including the state government, step up their efforts to address the situation immediately.”
He went on to say that there might be a connection between the high number and the financial struggles that many families in the state and around the nation are going through.
In a separate speech, Ramah urged all parties involved to keep pushing the urgent fight against malnutrition forward in order to provide kids a better future.
