US Army launches probe following death of US officer stationed in Poland: “Superb leader”

On Wednesday, the U.S. Army declared that it was looking into the death of a soldier who was stationed in Poland.

Lt. Col. Joshua Camara, 45, was stationed at Camp Kościuszko, which is located in Poznan and houses V Corps’ forward headquarters. Sept. 3, a Tuesday, was his death.

According to a V Corps spokesman, Camara joined the organisation in June 2024 and worked as a public affairs officer. Among other honours, Camara received the Meritorious Service Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, and the Legion of Merit.

Col. Kevin Jackson, Chief of Staff of V Corps, released a statement saying, “Our thoughts and sympathies are with Lt. Col. Josh Camara’s family, friends, and teammates during this difficult time.” “He was an outstanding leader and mentor, and we will remember his legacy and impact.”

An English-language Polish news network, TVP World, had earlier on Wednesday reported that Camara had been discovered inside an apartment following a military police raid on an apartment complex close to Camp Kościuszko.

Without naming him, Camara was identified in the report as a “senior officer.” Colonel Bartosz Okoniewski, the deputy district prosecutor for military affairs in Poznań, was quoted in the article. He stated that the evidence suggested “unintentional manslaughter” rather than murder.

None of the information in the TVP World report has been verified by the U.S. Army. Fox News Digital has reached out to the Poznań municipal officials in order to obtain additional information.
