Those attempting to persuade Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, to leave the party for another in 2027, according to Senator Victor Umeh of Anambra Central, “may be on a wide goose chase.”
Speaking with Vanguard on Thursday at an extended stakeholders’ meeting of the Labour Party in Umuahia, the LP chieftain and former national chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) said that Obi gained a lot of momentum in the 2023 polls due to the platform the LP gave him, so it would not be polite for him to simply leave the party.

However, Senator Umeh stated that Obi would prefer to strengthen and fortify LP before 2027 rather than dismantling it.
“Wooing Peter Obi out of the Labour Party will not be the right thing,” he stated, citing the fact that the LP gave him the prominence that the Nigerian people used to embrace him during the previous election.
In other words, whatever is going on is him building on the party and keeping up his attempts to further his interest. Those urging him to leave the Labour Party might
Senator Umeh praised Obi and Abia State Governor Alex Otti for taking a daring step to reposition the Labour Party by calling the Umuahia stakeholders gathering, which resulted in significant choices made in the party’s best interests.
We are pleased that the party’s concerns have been taken care of. Operating under dubious or unrecognised leadership is not something any organisation would want to do.
We came to make corrections because we were worried about the fact that our last National Working Committee, or NWC, was not acknowledged by INEC. We would be foolish to continue working with them when it was evident that their tenure had ended, as you cannot build on a foundation of faculty.
Therefore, we are grateful to Governor Alex Otti and Peter Obi for their efforts. Our wonderful celebration has been preserved by their bravery in calling the stakeholders’ meeting.
