In Beijing on Friday, President Bola Tinubu declared that he was prepared to make the difficult choices necessary to advance the country, noting that it is not always simple for a leader to forge a national consensus on matters.
In order to conclude his official engagements in China, the President said as much when he met with Nigerians residing there.
According to Tinubu, his visit was “very good and successful.”
President Tinubu stressed his efforts to strengthen cooperation in infrastructure, trade, finance, energy, green economy, and mining during his discussions with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and his participation at the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). He was speaking to members of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation in China, NIDO China, and the Nigerian community at the China World Hotel.
“It is my top priority that you continue to represent Nigeria as decent citizens,” in a statement provided by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, his spokesperson. And I implore each and every one of you to represent our country well in China.
“We shall never stop appreciating our diversity. Although we value diversity, it is our commitment to serve. If service is the goal, then we should act as decent citizens.
He highlighted the value of discipline and a dedication to national duty, pointing to China’s orderly society as a model for Nigerians to imitate.
“I can only tell you what the embassy has to say about how disciplined Chinese society is and how important it is for us to follow suit. We cannot establish a nation that is respected globally without dedication and discipline.
The President declared, “We must take advantage of our diversity, be prepared to go above and beyond what is asked of us in accordance with local laws, and project a positive image of our nation.”
And we claim we wish to give our kids a banner that is stain-free?
If we are unable to make the difficult choices necessary to clear the path for such a gifted and fortunate nation, what will be the crucial element in getting us there?
“Many of you have such talent and speak Mandarin with such fluency. Our people’s attitudes will be shaped by the things you tell them and contribute at home.
“Achieving meaningful development will become more expensive and time-consuming the more free you want everything to be,” the President declared.
“We want our kids to attend top-notch schools, not run-down cabins and crumbling structures. We need to foster innovation in our instruction and support the growth of companies of all shapes and sizes.
You have the power to create our country, starting with one economic action that leads to another. My responsibility is to lead, and I’m determined to do so,” the President said.
The President stated that “he is prepared to take the difficult decisions to move the nation forward, even though it is not always easy for a leader to have a national consensus on issues,” according to the statement.
“We are focused, and I have a very good team,” he declared.
Dr. Oche Barnabas, President of NIDO China, expressed his appreciation for President
He conveyed NIDO China’s backing for Nigeria’s 4Ds program, which was introduced earlier in the year by Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
He promised that the organisation is excited to advance the program among the population of diaspora.
In order to support Nigeria’s formal recognition as a native English-speaking nation and provide Nigerians living in China with greater access to employment and educational opportunities, Mr. Barnabas asked President Tinubu for aid.
“Your Excellency, I would like to request your gracious attention and take this unique opportunity to share with you a critical challenge that the Nigerian community in China faces.”
Because of the unique characteristics of this nation, the Nigerian population is primarily made up of businesspeople, expatriates, and students.
