At the official foreign exchange market, the Naira made huge gains versus the dollar, capping off a successful week.
According to FMDQ data, at the end of business on Friday, the Naira was worth N1593.32 per dollar, up from N1625.88 on Thursday.
This is a noteworthy increase of 32.56 versus the dollar from the N1625.88 exchange rate of the day before.
In the meantime, the black market kept losing value, closing at N1,665 per dollar on Friday after closing at N1660 on Thursday.
This indicates that the Naira ended Friday’s trading with a negative mood, meaning it gained value on the official market but lost value on the black market.
The Naira appreciated N5.24 on a weekly basis as compared to the official foreign exchange market’s N1598.56 exchange rate on Friday of previous week.
On the other hand, compared to the N1645 per dollar exchange rate at the black market last Friday, the Naira depreciated by N20 per dollar on a weekly basis.
