Ugwunwa placed second with a strong throw of 19.26 meters, behind Nurkhon Kurbanova of Uzbekistan, who broke the world record with a throw of 21.12 meters.
With this accomplishment, Nigeria has now won four medals overall in Para-Athletics at the current Games.
Ugwunwa, who is 40 years old, is still going strong at the Paralympics, having won three straight gold medals in Rio and Tokyo and a silver in Paris.
According to SaharaReporters, Mariam Eniola Bolaji won her first medal for the Nigerian team at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, France, on Monday in the women’s singles Para Badminton SL3 category.
In the bronze medal match, Mariam, a Kwara State athlete, defeated Kozyna Oksana of Ukraine 21-9, 21-9.
Additionally, Onyinyechi Mark, a powerlifter, won a gold medal for the Nigerian team on Friday morning in the women’s 61kg powerlifting division after lifting an astounding 150 kg.
The 23-year-old won on Friday, defeating Amelia Perez of Mexico, who took home the bronze medal with a lift of 130 kg, and Cui Jianjin of China, who grabbed silver.
