A cautionary tale about slipping away (1) — Lazarus Muoka

Written by Lazarus Muoka

Matthew 24:5–12 states, “For many will come in my name, claiming to be Christ, and many will be deceived.” 6 And you’ll hear about wars and reports of wars; try not to worry too much because these things are inevitable but the end is still far off. 7 For there will be earthquakes, famines, and pestilences in various locations, as country against nation and kingdom against kingdom rise against one other. 8 These are the first signs of grief. 9 After that, they will kill you and give you up to suffering; for my name’s sake, you will become despised by all peoples.10 And after that, a lot of people will be angered, turn on one another, and despise one another

All of the predictions regarding the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ have come to pass, beloved, so we shouldn’t ignore this reality. So now all that’s left are His arrival and our preparedness to welcome Him. We have witnessed numerous imposters and impersonators right before our eyes who have claimed to be prophets, instructors, or the Lord only to be exposed as frauds. Once ardent evangelists have turned icy. As a sign that this is a dangerous period, fervent and devoted Christians have given up on their first love. The current generation’s experiences genuinely suggest that the growth rates of true born-again Christians and backsliders are inversely correlated. There is a lack of trust among brothers, which has caused love to deteriorate. Everybody

“This know also, that perilous times shall come in the last days,” according to 2 Timothy 3:1–5.2 Because people will be self-centred, conceited, boastful, arrogant, blasphemous, disobedient to their parents, unthankful, and unholy; 3 they will lack natural affection; 4 they will break truces, betray others; 5 they will be highminded, heady, and more interested in pleasure than in God; 6 they will have a façade of godliness but deny its power; and 7 they will turn away from such people.

It has been explained to us that there will be plagues that bring about sadness. Furthermore, that there would be anti-Christian sentiment and persecutions, which will cause many people to doubt their faith. That will be a dangerous time when people claiming to be Christians start questioning the existence of God’s power, even if they have already tried it. We are able to attest to the fact that nearly all of the predictions concerning this period of time have come true. You can now see that nothing can be expected other than the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, since the prophecies about His coming have come to pass. Therefore, in order to take appropriate action, one must be alert, watchful, and meticulous in their preparation.

Of course, there are no disciplined, repulsive, or thankless persons in this generation. Nowadays, a large number of those who identify as Christians are showing signs of slipping away, such as excessive self-love, unquenchable covetousness, boasting, pride, despising of others, and blasphemy of God.

Read 2 Thessalonians 2:1–3: “Now we pray, brethren, that you will not be soon unsettled in mind or agitated, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as the day of Christ is at hand. This is because of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our joining together unto him. 3 · Do not allow anyone to mislead you in any manner because that day will not arrive until there is first a falling away.
