The Kano State Government has pushed back the date of primary and post-primary school reopenings for the start of the 2024–2025 school year.
This is what Balarade Kiru, the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Education, said in a statement on Saturday in Kano.
He claimed that Umar Doguwa, the Commissioner of Education, had stated that some “urgent reasons” that were not given had forced the decision.
Mr. Kiru cited Mr. Doguwa as stating that the ministry would shortly release a new date.
I would like to notify parents, students, and students that the announcement regarding the start of classes on September 8 and 9, 2024, has been postponed. This is because there are several pressing issues that will contribute to enhancing the environment in which our kids can study. In due course, the director stated, a new date for the restart will be disclosed.
Nonetheless, Mr. Kiru urged everyone in question—students, parents, and guardians in particular—to accept any hardships that may have resulted from the postponement.
