Chief Ajuri Ngelale, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, submitted an application yesterday to continue on an indefinite leave of absence in order to attend to medical issues impacting his immediate family.
In a memo addressed to President Femi Gbajabiamila’s chief of staff, the presidential spokesman begged that his family needed privacy during his absence.
Ngelale announced that his duties as the President’s spokesperson, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen, and Special Advisor to the President on Media and Publicity would be suspended during this time.
He added that the choice was made after several days of talks with his family in response to a deteriorating health condition at home.
He stated: “I issued a memo to the President’s Chief of Staff on Friday, alerting my office to the fact that I am taking an indefinite leave of absence to address health issues that are currently affecting my immediate, nuclear family.
This painful decision, which involves pausing my duties as the President’s official spokesperson, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen, was made after extensive family discussions over the past few days due to a vexatious medical situation that has gotten worse at home. “I fully understand that the ship of state waits for no man,” the spokesperson said. I’m eager to resume my full-time national service when circumstances, healing, and time allow. I humbly need some privacy for myself and my family at this time.
