The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been forewarned by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to expect the wrath of Edo people should it continue to assault and harass innocent State citizens.
The warning was given at a press conference in Abuja by Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s national publicity secretary.
According to Ologunagba, the APC leaders, working in collusion with some compromised police officers, have been unlawfully attacking, harassing, and detaining innocent Edo State citizens. This has made it necessary to issue a warning in an attempt to intimidate voters and take advantage of the September 21, 2024, governorship election.
He claims that the APC and its candidate, Monday Okpebholo, have been desperate to use violence and harassment to subdue the will of the people of Edo State ever since it became apparent that the PDP candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, is coasting to a landslide victory with the overwhelming support of over 68% of the expected votes.
He stated that on Monday, September 2, 2024, the PDP had expressed concern about the APC’s harassment, arrests, and detention of innocent Edo State residents in collusion with some tainted security personnel.
“The aforementioned APC-controlled agents attempted to arrest Chief Francis Inegbeniki on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Chief Inegbeniki just defected from the APC to the PDP.
Additionally, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, last week, an APC agent broke into the home of a man named Shina, who had switched parties three weeks prior, and forcibly dragged him out of the house while firing intermittently to frighten the populace.
The APC leaders brought in thugs and hoodlums to attack a PDP rally in Edo North, destroying campaign materials. Our brave members and supporters in Edo North, where our candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, commands overwhelming support and solidarity, decisively resisted the assault, he said on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
