Ajaero, SERAP: Ezekwesili says the Tinubu government should quit digging itself a hole.

According to former education minister Obiageli Ezekwesili, security forces are now regularly stationed to harass and threaten Nigerians as a result of the extreme economic suffering that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has inflicted upon the country’s populace.

If the Nigerian government still had any remaining wisdom, the former minister advised it to halt excavating further.

The statement was released following the arrest of Comrade Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), by the Department of State Services (DSS) and his visit to the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) headquarters in Abuja.

Since then, Ajaero has been set free.

But Ezekwesili insisted in a post on her X account on Tuesday that Nigerians united will never again tolerate harsh laws.

She went on to identify three actions Tinubu should take to prevent the nation from being too hot.

As if the worst economic misery inflicted on the populace by the @nigeriagov of @NGRPresident @officialABAT wasn’t traumatising enough, the nation’s security forces are now routinely used to harass and threaten Nigerians, according to Ezekwesili.

“I wanted to confirm the report from yesterday, which stated that the NLC @NLCHeadquarters and its President @JoeAjaero94024 as @SERAPNigeria are the most recent victims of a severe assault on rights.

Thus, I would like to know, “What is the true reason behind this @officialABAT administration’s decision to incite such terrible tension in the nation for

Here are three actions the @NGRPresident must take to stop the country from becoming too heated, regardless of what is behind this repressive onslaught:

In accordance with the constitution and local laws, the @OfficialDSSNG @PoliceNG must free Ajaero, leave @SERAPNigeria, return their documents, fix any damaged property, and pay them for any losses they may have caused.

“All of the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protestors who are being unlawfully detained or prosecuted by the security establishment for no other reason than the intoxication and intolerance of @officialABAT and his crew, who seized power through an election that failed all credibility tests, must be freed by the @PoliceNG @OfficialDSSNG.

Planning for a Citizens-led National Conversation and Nigerian Constitutional process should start right away, according to the @NGRPresident and the @nassnigeria.

“This @NigeriaGov would do well to stop digging further into a hole, if wisdom remains at all.” When Nigerians band together, they will never again put up with harsh regulations.
