Digital birth and NIN registration, according to the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), are essential to the development of the country.
This is the rationale behind the commission’s collaboration on digital birth registration with the National Population Commission (NPC), according to Abisoye Coker-Odusote, director-general (DG) and CEO of NIMC.
Speaking during the project’s launch, Coker-Odusote said that President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope initiative project will go down in history as one of his accomplishments.
In order to promote development in Nigeria, Coker-Odusote emphasised the need of birth registration and the national identification number (NIN), according to a statement made by Kayode Adegoke, head of corporate communications at NIMC.
According to her, birth registration is an essential part of the country’s growth ambitions and a fundamental right.
According to Coker-Odusote, “birth registration is crucial for the development of the nation; it is not just important for the individual.”
“Digital birth and NIN registration will increase the child’s and all Nigerians’ access to government health care, education, and other social benefits.”
She praised NPC for digitising and expediting birth registration and promised that NIMC will remain a true partner in leading the nation’s educational and social transformation.
The head of NIMC urged foreign partners and public society to support the program in order for it to succeed, and he also stated that NIMC would keep facilitating easy NIN registration for Nigerians, particularly those under the age of sixteen.
Additionally, Coker-Odusote expressed gratitude to First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for her unwavering support of the NIN and birth registration initiatives.
