Victor Osimhen’s social media outburst directed at former Super Eagles head coach Finidi George has not been attributed by John Mikel Obi.

Osimhen faced criticism for his outburst at Finidi, who was said to have questioned his dedication to the national squad.

The striker shouted out the former winger for Ajax, expressing his dissatisfaction and lack of regard for him.

Mikel stated that Osimhen’s dissatisfaction was justified, particularly given the Super Eagles’ dismal performances against South Africa and the Benin Republic.

Although the striker’s response may not have been the best, the former midfielder said that he can understand why the player must protect himself.

While applauding Osimhen’s humility, he also said that respect ought to be reciprocated.

He is really modest and respectful of others every time I chat with him. Respect is reciprocal, as I have stated. You respect me, and I respect you. According to Mikel on Obionepodcast, I believe the Nigerian coach believed that his blowout wasn’t fair because the management didn’t stand up for him.

He claimed that the management had spoken with him, that their conversation was taped, and that the boss had just thrown him under the bus.

He came out to defend himself because he was quite irate. He had the right to speak up, even though his method may not have been the greatest. Victor [Osimhen] is not the object of my hatred, and acknowledging your value is not hubris.
