In Katsina State, flooding caused over 3,000 people to be relocated and at least 15 deaths between early August and early September.
Daily pulse report learnt that 21,481 more people had injuries of varying severity.
Hajiya Binta Hussain Dagani, the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), informed reporters of this on Thursday in Katsina.
She added the floodwaters also damaged a total of 32,542 dwellings across 32 local government units in the state.
She claims that the LGAs of Dutsinma, Daura, Kaita, Katsina, and Batagarawa are the worst hit, while the LGAs of Funtua, Malumfashi, and Musawa are also affected.
Earlier at the ancient Katsina Government House, Hajiya Dagani marked off the distribution of palliatives supplied by the Bank of Industry to flood victims in the state.
She announced at the ceremony that efforts were underway by the state administration to deliver more relief measures, such as cash support and building materials, to the victims by next week.
Dagani mentioned that in order to take further action, the agency has provided the state government with a thorough report that includes figures on casualties, damages, impacted areas, and victims.
She clarified that in order to provide more aid to the impacted people in Katsina, emergency support groups—such as the Jos-based Health and Development Support Programme (HANDS)—are now mobilising.
