More than a hundred Ebonyi flood victims beg for supplies and financial assistance.

More than a hundred farmers in Azuoto, Okpuitumo village, Abakiliki LGA of Ebonyi State, who were impacted by the flood calamity, have requested financial support and relief supplies from the state government and the National Emergency Management Agency, or NEMA.

The farmers submitted their request to the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) in Abakaliki via a group letter dated September 10, 2024.

The letter, which was signed by Amauche Agbo, the secretary of the Azuoto Village Youth Assembly, asked the organisation to give them supplies and money so they could lessen the impact of the flood calamity that struck between July and September of this year.

The letter claims that “as a result of the disaster, the affected farmers are currently facing serious untold hardship and hunger.”

The victims, who included the head of the Azuoto Village, Sunday Igwe, Simon Nwogha, and Ngozi Ofoke, among others, further pleaded for the government at all levels, as well as kind-hearted individuals and organisations, to grant them positive support and consideration in order to lessen their suffering.
