The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) has chosen to extend the term of the Tony Okocha-led caretaker committee in Rivers State.
According to Naija News, this decision comes after the seven-member caretaker committee led by Okocha was discharged by a Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt.
Justice Sika Aprioku gave the ruling in response to a lawsuit brought forth by Sam Sam Etetegwung, Banarth Ezemoye, and others, representing the elected APC leaders at both the state and local government levels.
At a news conference on Thursday in Abuja, Cornelius Ojelabi, the Chairman of the Forum of APC State Chairmen, disclosed this development.
Ojelabi conveyed his gratitude to Abdullahi Ganduje’s National Working Committee for deciding to prolong the caretaker committee’s term.
In addition to making the Rivers State APC Chapter one of the most resilient, active, and vibrant Chapters, he said, “To the blind and deaf, the activities of Chief Tony Okocha’s executives in the past seven months have given a new lease of life to the doldrums, docility, and chicanery that once pervaded the political landscape of APC in Rivers State prior to the 2023 general election.”
As a result, as a Forum, we have decided to unite in our praise of the National Working Committee’s decision in this regard, and we also promise to keep talking with them to develop our democratic ethos, foster unity, and usher in enduring peace in every chapter of our lives.
The Forum praised Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, calling him one of the Federal Executive Council’s top performers under President Bola Tinubu.
“The Forum will always be grateful to all those who have helped the party flourish and President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration succeed.”
