According to Otunba Kole Omololu, the National Organising Secretary of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti is the socio-cultural organization’s elected head.
He said this in reference to the group’s continuing leadership struggles.

Ayo Adebanjo is just the gang head, according to Omololu.

This was stated by the organising secretary during a Thursday interview with Arise News.

Disagreements inside Afenifere were disregarded by him, calling them “family issues” that existed before the elections of 2023.

Along with assuring that the group stays together, Omololu said that “a lot of things are brewing” as they continue to negotiate the convoluted political landscape of Nigeria.

“Afenifere is a very objective organisation,” he remarked. As you can see, even though we have a pan-Nigerian perspective, our culture and values are vital to who we are as a Yoruba community. Thus, it is known as the Olori ebi system. In Afenifere, leaders are always elected. just the boss. All of us exco members have been appointed. When Baba Ajasi was ill, he appointed Baba Adesanya as the acting leader. Following Adesanya’s passing, Adesanya was chosen to take over as leader. Later, when Baba Adesanya fell ill once more, he asked Pa Fasoranti to take over.

“Afenifere’s leader is akin to a monarch. Before anyone else can take over as leader, he must pass away. The leader is one, even though we have multiple leaders. Fasoranti is the elected and appointed leader of Afenifere. Leader Pa Ayo Adebanjo is essentially synonymous with Afenifere. Under Pa Fasoranti, he leads. A family issue is at hand in Afenifere, and all of this occurred prior to the most recent elections. Although the election has already passed, I can promise you that a lot more is in the works.

Omololu urged Nigeria to move its focus from the presidency to the roles and responsibilities of governors in order to have a more thorough and in-depth conversation about governance in the nation.
