Dino Melaye is suspended by the PDP for anti-party conduct.

Due to suspected anti-party conduct, Senator Dino Melaye, one of the party’s well-known members, has been suspended by the Peoples Democratic Party.

The suspension was decided by the Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1 ward party executive committee following examination of the findings of the disciplinary committee that was formed to look into Melaye’s behaviour, according to a letter that Punch Online on Friday cited.

“Senator Dino Melaye’s conduct has brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party and his continued membership is no longer tenable,” the motion voted to suspend the senator stated.

Dino Melaye is thus immediately and permanently suspended from the Peoples Democratic party by the Ward Party Executive Committee.

The suspension is in accordance with PDP constitution Article 59 (1), which gives the Ward party excos the authority to discipline dissident members.

Melaye’s recent activities seem to have been considered damaging to the PDP’s unity and interests, which is what led to the suspension.

The ward secretary, Yodson Dayo, and chairman, Abayomi Osamika, signed the motion to suspend the senator on Thursday.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ward Party Executive Committee convened on Friday, September 12, 2024, in Ayetoro/lluagba ward 1 to discuss the findings of the disciplinary committee, which was tasked with looking into allegations of anti-party activity against Senator Dino Melaye, a distinguished member of our wonderful party.

Recall that, in accordance with Article 57(4) of the PDP Constitution, Senator Dino Melaye was asked to appear before the Disciplinary Committee on August 20, 2024, to address a number of accusations of misbehaviour and anti-party activity.

But he didn’t turn up, disobeying the party’s authority and the invitation.
Following extensive thought and discussion, the Ward Party Exco decided as follows:

  1. That Senator Dino Melaye has shown a flagrant disregard for the party and its leadership by neglecting to appear before the Disciplinary Committee.
  2. That there is no doubt that his acts violate the party disciplinary guidelines and the PDP constitution.
  3. That Senator Dino Melaye’s behaviour has damaged the party’s reputation and caused embarrassment, making it untenable for him to remain a member.

Thus, with immediate effect, the Ward Party Exco suspends Senator Dino Melaye from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Article 59(1) of the PDP Constitution, which gives the Ward Party Exco the authority to discipline dissident members, is what this suspension complies with.
We implore every member of our magnificent party to stay dedicated to the ideals of loyalty and party discipline. To create a powerful and cohesive party that can win elections and represent the interests of the people, we must cooperate.
