The Federal Ministry of Works is performing emergency repairs on the Eko Bridge, and the Lagos State Government has issued a traffic diversion.

It is anticipated that the distraction will begin on Monday, September 16, 2024, and run for eight weeks.

Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the state commissioner for transport, made the news on Friday in a statement.

According to the work timetable, the bridge will be partially or completely closed during each of the four phases of the repairs, he explained.

Drivers coming to the island from Funsho Williams Avenue can continue their journey by using the service lane at Alaka to connect with Costain and approach the Eko Bridge.

Alternatively, drivers wanting to go to the island can use Costain to link the Eko Bridge to Apongbon. Additionally, drivers can join Costain to Funsho Williams Avenue by connecting Apongbon to the inside of the Eko Bridge.

In order to reach their destinations, drivers can also utilise Costain’s Alaka/Funsho Williams Avenue or, as an alternative, Apapa Road from Costain, which links Oyingbo to Adekunle, which links Third Mainland Bridge.

In the same spirit, drivers travelling to Surulere are recommended to take Costain to connect to Breweries in Abebe Village, then Eric Moore or Bode Thomas to reach their final destinations, according to the statement.

In order to avoid travel delays and annoyance, he gave the public the assurance that personnel from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority would be stationed in the rehabilitation zones and along detour routes.
