The appointment of four substantive commissioners of police for the state commands of Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa Ibom has been approved by the Police Service Commission.
The appointments came after the Commission recently promoted a few senior police officers, leaving vacancies in a few state commands, according to a statement released on Friday under the signature of PSC Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani.
Isah Danladi Nda from the Abia State Command, Olarewaju Ishola Olawale from the Lagos State Command, Anthonia Adaku Uche Anya from the Ebonyi State Command, and Miller Gajere Dantawaye from the Akwa Ibom State Command are the new commissioners.
In Abia, Nda will take the position of Kenechukwu Onwuemelie; in Lagos, Olawale will take the place of Adegoke Fayoade; in Ebonyi, Anya will take the place of Augustina Ogbodo; and in Akwa Ibom, Waheed Ayilara will be replaced by Dantawaye.
The new state command commissioners need to be ready to improve the security management of their states of posting, according to DIG Hashimu Argungu, Chairman of the Commission.
According to the statement, “DIG Argungu stressed that they shouldn’t waste time getting started right away and that the Commission will monitor their performance.”
In addition to saying that the Commission will continue to support them for the best possible service delivery, he informed the new commissioners that it is their responsibility to develop a competitive, capable, and effective police force in their states of posting.
He stated that their nominations ought to be interpreted as an exhortation to increase one’s commitment to serving one’s country.
“The Inspector General of Police has been notified of the approval of the postings signed by the Secretary to the Commission Chief Onyemuche Nnamani for implementation.”
