The governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, issued a warning on Saturday, saying that the state’s governorship race is a “do-or-die affair” the next week.
Obaseki threatened to kill anyone caught using any kind of electoral fraud by the opposition party.
He made his remarks at a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally in the state’s Ekemwan region.
The individual I succeeded to had no regard for our people, no regard for women, and supported prostitution and the trafficking of women.
“Our pensioners wore black on Labour Day when I took office, but now they wear white.”
“Our young people didn’t have jobs when I assumed office, but don’t they have jobs now? Is Edo still among Nigeria’s safest places to live after eight years?
We have to win this election or perish. If they lose, that is. Vote for PDP to become the next governor by this Saturday of next week.
The people of Edo State will cast their ballots for the state’s next governor on Saturday, September 21.
The front-runners in the race for governor are Asue Ighodalo of the PDP, Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP).
