The organisation denounced the “tragic killing of five innocent young men in Mbar community on September 15, despite prior intelligence reports of suspected terrorists’ influx into the area.”
Five people were slain by suspected gunmen on Sunday night in Mbar village, Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State.
In a statement released on Monday in Jos, Barrister Farmasum Fuddang and Ambassador Duwam Bosco, the Chairman and Secretary of the Bokkos Cultural Development Council Vanguard (BCDCV), respectively, acknowledged the event.
The organisation denounced the “tragic killing of five innocent young men in Mbar community on September 15, despite prior intelligence reports of suspected terrorists’ influx into the area.”
The BCDCV reports that the victims were attacked by motorcycle-riding terrorists who were on their way from Mbar town to Koh village between 7 and 7:30 p.m. after the military had originally driven them from the highlands.
According to the statement, the terrorists finished their attack and got away before the security personnel could get there.
BCDCV emphasised that the crime was a part of a string of armed attacks in their communities, which included the September 3 murder of 11 youngsters in the villages of Tarangol, Daffo, and Bargesh.
The perpetrators were accused by the BCDCV of trying to drive their people off their ancestral lands.
They advocated for more local participation in the management of security risks, arguing that residents of the area might give the armed forces vital intelligence and assistance.
The group encouraged vigilance among their followers and offered condolences to the families of the slain.
They promised to fight back against any attempts to evict their minority population from their territory.
