Questions about the Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwaso merger conversation

The much-discussed merger talks between Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso—which would have united the opposition against the ruling All Progressives Congress, or APC—may not proceed as planned.

The indication first appeared after Kwankwaso, the New Nigerian Peoples Party’s (NNPP) presidential candidate in the most recent general election, predicted he would win in 2027.

According to the DAILY POST, the NNPP leader’s outburst occurred during the recent opening of the party’s Katsina State secretariat.

In addition, he was in the state to offer the Yar’Adua family condolences following the passing of their matriarch, Hajiya Dada, the late President Umaru Yar’adua’s mother.

The former governor of Kano State, who was courted as a stunning bride by both Atiku and Obi, insisted that his party, the NNPP, was prepared to seize power in 2027, taking control of states, the federal government, and other positions.

Apart from this proclamation, Kwankwaso asserted that the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, had already crossed the line and is already dead.

“I would like to remind you that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has already passed away. We chose to check out because we were members of the party and they had crossed the queue.

He stated.

The PDP had already declared that important opposition figures were considering combining to take on the APC in the 2027 elections. This was before Kwankwaso’s outburst.

Ibrahim Abdullahi, the PDP’s deputy national publicity secretary, said this during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program.

Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwaso were in fact talking about forming a coalition, according to Abdullahi.

He bemoaned the party’s loss of more than a million votes, saying that “we could have closed that gap and avoided the current political and economic hardships” if Kwankwaso or Obi had stayed in the party.

Yes. There is still discussion. You witnessed Peter Obi and Atiku conversing. Abdullahi stated, “You’ve seen Peter Obi meeting with El-Rufai,” and that his party was attempting to reintegrate Obi, Kwankwaso, and other departing figures into the PDP.

After one of them gives in on behalf of the rest, we will know where to go. Our party’s and these individuals’ objective is to rescue Nigerians from these feelings of hopelessness and despair—the two diseases of extreme poverty and hunger as well as the terrifying lack of security in the country.

“You could see that the people in charge of the nation were ignorant and incompetent. He continued, “And for these people (Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwaso), saving Nigeria from it is more essential than their personal goals.

DAILY PULSE remembers that PDP presidential candidate Atiku hinted at a potential partnership with Obi and Kwankwaso in a BBC interview prior to the general election of 2023, but it never materialised.

Furthermore, there was an unsuccessful attempt to form an alliance between Rabiu Kwankwaso (NNPP) and Peter Obi (LP).

In a Thursday interview with News Central Television, Obi stated he is not anxious to become the president of Nigeria.

He declared that he would only collaborate with others if he saw someone else who was more capable of finishing the task.

He claims that he will not associate with anyone in order to seize power or obtain political office.

In his own words, Obi states that he is not desperate to become the president of Nigeria. I really want Nigeria to succeed.

“I will do the work if I see someone else who can do it better. I responded to those who said that I shouldn’t come out in 2027 by saying, “Offer yourselves, and we’ll put everyone on a scale.” I will cast my vote for them if they are superior.

Obi responded, “Yes, I will be here, and if any person is coming for us to negotiate or come together, he must tell me for what purpose,” when asked if he would remain with the Labour Party if he were to run in the next election.

I refuse to support anyone in capturing a state or winning an election. If there is someone out there who can explain me how we are going to ensure that no child is left behind, re-enroll the millions of children who are now not in school, and generate jobs, please do so.

“First, we need to decide what it is that we hope to accomplish by uniting.

Cooperation shouldn’t be limited to state capture and should not stop at the same level of consumption. We will work together on production if such is the case.

When asked if he would welcome Kwankwaso to join him as an ally, the former governor of Anambra state responded, saying, “We want to dismantle the two biggest jobs in Nigeria.” We will say “yes, yes” to anyone who wants to shift the nation from a consumption-based to a production-based economy, lift people out of poverty, or enrol children who are not in school.

Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwaso should really be able to agree, according to PDP chieftain Barr. Ray Nnaji, who told DAILY PULSE in an interview that Atiku and Obi, in particular, have campaigned on the same ticket in a previous election.

Nnaji, a former PDP national auditor, stated that he does not believe Kwankwaso, the leader of the NNPP and someone he called President Tinubu’s friend, will consent to collaborate with Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

The PDP leader clarified that Kwankwaso would need to be given the chance to run for president before the three of them could form an alliance.

“This alliance has actually been something that has been advocated for even when they were contesting the 2023 election,” Nnaji stated. I was stating that the All Progressives Congress, or APC, will be defeated, particularly by the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The New Nigerian Peoples Party, or NNPP, may form an alliance because Rabiu Kwankwaso thought he could win the election even if he was just in control of Kano.

Despite having a sizable and somewhat dense population, Kano cannot become president on his own. Furthermore, even though I am well aware of the friendship between President Tinubu and Kwankwaso, I do not see Kwankwaso and Atiku Abubakar forming an alliance, unless it is contingent upon Kwankwaso being given the chance to run for president, which I do not believe is likely.

In their previous race together, Atiku and Obi overcame the APC. Buhari removed Walter Onnoghen, the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, from office through an exparte order because, if he hadn’t seen it coming, he would have known that the case would ultimately end up in the Supreme Court and that he wouldn’t be certain to win it with Onnoghen there.

“For this reason, he exerted great effort to have Onnoghen removed and replaced with his brother Tanko, who actually ensured that the plan to bring him through was carried out.”

He went on, “If they are talking about merging now, as I just mentioned, I do not see Kwankwaso forming an alliance with Atiku and Obi, with the exception that Kwankwaso has been offered the position of president.

“His body language has indicated that, but I’m not his spokesperson and I haven’t spoken with him. And as you are well aware, the issue will arise from deciding who will actually run for office and on which platform if Obi decides to team up with Atiku or form an alliance.

“If Obi agrees, you should be aware that he was a member of the PDP before leaving due to Wike. Obi has the ability to take all bookies by surprise. Even I never gave him the benefit of the doubt that he would succeed.

If they can unite, we can observe that the public is growing increasingly weary of the ruling party since, rather than things improving, they are really becoming worse.

“The ruling Australian Party (APC) isn’t even ready to offer suggestions on how to solve the issue. It’s a serious issue, and rational people ought to be aware of what to do.

Since 2015, the APC has failed to provide an explanation for why it is a viable alternative to the PDP. This is evident when you contrast current events with the factors that truly contributed to the PDP’s electoral defeat.

If they can truly come to an agreement, it would be beneficial, particularly for Obi and Atiku who had previously campaigned on the same ticket.

That being said, Atiku will no longer be the one supporting Obi if an alliance is to materialise this time. Given that Obi performed the best, based on the scores, there will now be three equal parties.

“He is not a weakling. As a result, even though the PDP has roughly 13 states while the Labour Party just has one, it will be a two-way agreement. That is the only thing that will guarantee the APC’s removal. If not, given the mindset of our people, it will be extremely challenging.

Speaking on the subject as well was Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the former media director and spokesperson for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Organisation,

In an interview with DAILY PULSE, Tanko, the Obidient Movement’s Interim National Coordinator, disclosed this.

He clarified that although discussions were ongoing, no firm decision had been made on the subject.

The topic of merger and alliance conversation is one that is constantly brought up. Although there isn’t a consensus on the subject, people are conversing.

It is crucial that people realise how important it is for them to work together to ensure that they unseat these individuals and advance the cause of good government. As a result, as they are strengthening their base, people are conversing with one another.

There’s no reason to question anyone’s honesty. In actuality, you are either a part of it or you are not. No one will need to coerce you into working together if you feel that it is necessary, according to Tanko.

Hashimu Dungurawa, the NNPP’s Kano State Chairman, told Daily Pulse that the circumstances of the near future will determine what transpires.

Dungurawa claimed that Kwankwaso, his leader, is a very kind individual who never picks fights with anyone.

He asserts that Kwankwaso wants genuine leaders to oversee the nation’s affairs and that he wants things done correctly in Nigeria.

“You see, things don’t just happen like that in politics,” he remarked. The circumstances surrounding the scenario will determine whether Mr. A collaborates with Mr. B or Mr. C.

Time will be the only judge of that. What hasn’t happened or arrived can’t be predicted.

People are only able to predict what will happen when the moment comes. This is merely hearsay.

“Rabiu Kwankwaso, our leader, is a very amiable individual. He is not at odds with anyone.

He wants genuine leaders to oversee the affairs of our nation and for things to be done correctly in Nigeria. That is the cause of his conflict.

He is the lone one who isn’t defecting to the party in power. However, a lot of the nation’s leaders used to abandon the opposition party and join the prevailing one since they were just interested in themselves.

However, he was a governor in the PDP and APC when they were created. When they misbehaved, he transferred to the APC, which was not part of the ruling party.

“After the APC took power and began acting inappropriately, he rejoined the PDP. And the same PDP committed the same error again, which is why he joined the NNPP.

He produced a governor and numerous National Assembly members, including senators, by the grace of Allah.

He differs from other politicians, who are more like prostitutes, because of this. A large number of them are switching to the government party from the opposition. Furthermore, Kwankwaso’s is not like that.

“You see, everyone is aware of and well-versed in the current events occurring in the nation. The APC party has a broom as their emblem.

“Now that it’s changed into a stick, the broom is hitting everyone.” Everybody is paying the price for it.

“The umbrella-wielding PDP that you mentioned has evolved into a ferocious tiger that is biting everyone.”

Even now, there is no leadership for it. People are therefore prepared to join NNPP and work there.

If given the chance in 2027, we are the ones who can truly make this country great and happy for everyone.
