The midfielder for Manchester City, Rodri, has offered a frank assessment of the competition for the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
The Spain international acknowledged that there are attempts to force him to take home the Ballon d’Or this year, but he says he doesn’t give the coveted individual award any thought.
One of the thirty players who was recently shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or was Rodri.
Rodri stated (via the BBC) in a media conference prior to Manchester City’s Champions League match against Inter Milan on Wednesday: “I’m very, very happy for everything that happened to me in the last years.” It is only a dream to win the same things that Manchester City has, and to win the Euros with my nation. It’s the result of perseverance, hard work, and never giving up.
“At the moment, I genuinely feel like people are acknowledging my work and pushing for me to take home the Ballon d’Or. To be honest, I don’t give it much thought.
