SaharaReporters received word on Tuesday that CP Peter Opara has been reassigned to Delta State.
The signal says, in part, “FORWARDING THE FOLLOWING COMMAND COMPOLS X FROM COMPOL RVS TO COMPOL FCT X COMPOL DISU OLATUNJI RILWAN X FROM COMPOL DTS TO COMPOL RVS X COMPOL ABANIWONDA S. OLUFEMI X FROM COMPOL FCT TO COMPOL DTS X COMPOL PETER U. OPARA X POSTING IS WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT ‘MOST/IMMEDIATE.”
In the meantime, CP Peter Opara’s appointment as the Federal Capital Territory command’s substantive commissioner of police, Abuja, was approved by the Police Service Commission.
Opara took over for CP Benneth Igweh, who oversaw a turbulent administration in the Federal Capital Territory and was later elevated to the position of Assistant Inspector General of Police.
He was assigned to the position of Zonal Assistant Inspector General of Police in Zone 7 of Abuja.
This was stated in a statement that Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, gave the media on Friday in Abuja.
According to SaharaReporters, the appointment of four substantive commissioners of police for the state commands of Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa Ibom was approved by the Police Service Commission.
According to the statement signed by Ani, the appointments came about as a result of the Commission’s recent promotion of a few senior police officials, which left gaps in a few state commands.
Isah Danladi Nda from the Abia State Command, Olarewaju Ishola Olawale from the Lagos State Command, Anthonia Adaku Uche Anya from the Ebonyi State Command, and Miller Gajere Dantawaye from the Akwa Ibom State Command are the new commissioners.
