As per Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, Vice President Kashim Shettima will head Nigeria’s delegation to the UNGA.
The presidential aide’s statement claims that Tinubu wishes to concentrate on home matters.
According to the announcement, President Bola Tinubu would not be present in New York this year for the 79th United Nations General Assembly session.
Vice President Kashim Shettima has been instructed by the President to head Nigeria’s delegation.
“President Tinubu wants to concentrate on home concerns and address some of the country’s challenges, especially in light of the recent terrible flooding. He returned to the country last Sunday after visiting China and the United Kingdom.
Vice President Shettima will make Nigeria’s national speech to the General Assembly during UNGA 79. She will also attend significant side events and have one-on-one meetings.
“From Tuesday, September 24, through Saturday, September 28, 2024, there will be a high-level General Debate with the theme ‘Leaving no one behind: Acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development, and human dignity for present and future generations.'”
