November 1st burial for late Ohanaeze Ndigbo President General, Iwuanyanwu

On November 1, 2024, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the late elder statesman and President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, will be laid to rest.

Senator Ben Obi, the chairman of the national burial committee, revealed this information on Thursday at a press conference in Abuja.

Accompanied by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Secretary General Amb. Okey Emuchay and the chairman of the burial subcommittee, Senator Osita Izunaso, Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika (retd), and other individuals, Obi said that a sequence of events will culminate in the burial itself.

“We are here to inform you of the dates of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo President General’s funeral.

Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Eko Hotels and Convention Centre, is Lagos Day of Tributes.

“Friday, October 18, 2024, at the National Ecumenical Centre is Abuja Day of Tributes.”

The major event of the “Enugu Day of Tributes” will take place at Okpara Square on Saturday, October 26, with a quick halt at the Ohanaeze headquarters located at 7 Parkland GRA Enugu.

“Song Service in Owerri, Tuesday, October 29, 2024.” Friday, November 1, 2024, is the day of Imo’s interment and the Commendation Service takes place in Owerri on November 1.

“More information will be shared in due course,” he declared.

Additionally, Senator Obi stated that President Bola Tinubu will be visited by the committee to inform him of the statesman’s transition and the specifics of his funeral.

We’re going to meet President Tinubu to formally inform him of the specifics of this transfer, and I have no doubt that the President is aware of everything Chief Iwuanyanwu has accomplished and will take the appropriate action,” he stated.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Secretary, who also spoke at the ceremony, said the late Iwuanyanwu died a fulfilled man because he never wavered from giving it his all under the circumstances.

“I believe that Kanu’s visit to the jail with Chief Iwuanyanwu was his final official task prior to his passing.

He had never before missed an occasion to demand Kanu’s release.

He never held back when discussing equity, fairness, and justice in restructuring, and he was aware that he couldn’t accomplish it by himself.

Thus, he collaborated with Afenifere, the Middle Belt Forum, and the South South PANDEF. He requested that the number of states in each geopolitical zone be equal.

“Ohanaeze will not give up on these matters, which were very important to him. We want to assure you that we will not fail.
