
The Federal Government has said that it is working to stop Nigerians from migrating abroad irregularly by implementing policies and initiatives that will strengthen the nation’s economy and generate jobs.
This was stated on Thursday in Abuja during an anti-migration summit hosted by the Blacks Ancestral Native Communities (BANC) and attended by Sen. Abubakar Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning.
Bagudu claimed that drug trafficking and human trafficking were just two of the many unanticipated negative effects of irregular migration.
He claims that the Federal Government is aware of the pressing need to propel Nigeria’s economy to an elite status that will enable it to maintain its position as the pride of Africa.
“A two trillion dollar economy will facilitate the rectification of all the issues we are discussing here, including the “Japa” syndrome in Nigeria and irregular migration.
Nigeria wants to make sure that people migrate voluntarily, not because they are forced to, rather than trying to stop its residents from migrating.
He declared, “The current administration is working hard to reduce irregular migration by Nigerians by implementing policies and programs that will strengthen our economy and generate jobs.”
