Vote buying is one of the most challenging crimes to handle, according to Deputy Inspector-General of Police Frank Mba, because the offenders use a variety of techniques to complete the job.
Mba, who is in charge of Edo’s security for the governorship race, acknowledged that combating vote buying is a difficult task for the police in an interview with Channels Television on Friday.
He declared, “I am saying this with all sincerity: vote buying is one of the most difficult offences to actually police and manage.”
The explanation is straightforward: the majority of vote buying and selling occurs behind closed doors, away from the prying eyes of the public, the media, and law enforcement. Occasionally, these incidents occur in citizens’ bedrooms, and we are unable to monitor every bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and balcony.
