In a press release released on Saturday night, the commission stated that it had been notified of two complaints alleging that its staff had manipulated the results.
In the ongoing Edo State governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that it is willing to look into claims that incorrect numbers were entered into polling place results.
In a press release released on Saturday night, the commission stated that it had been notified of two complaints alleging that its staff had manipulated the results.
The announcement says as follows: “An allegation that incorrect numbers were entered into polling unit result sheets in the ongoing Edo State governorship election has brought the attention of the Commission.”
Out of the 4,519 polling places that were utilised for the election, this is the second complaint that we have gotten.
The statement further stated, “The Commission will look into the matter right away and address any proven infraction.”
The All Progressives Congress (APC) received 352 votes from the Etsako Polling Unit in Edo State, according to a result sheet allegedly provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), even though there were only 213 registered voters.
The legitimacy of the state’s current gubernatorial election has been called into question by this incident.
The accusation of vote-rigging against All Progressive Congress has gained greater credence due to the disparity of 280 votes in the result sheet.
213 voters were accredited, out of the 493 registered voters at the polling place, according to the sheet.
