Ganiyu Hamzat, the Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, has advocated for spending money on tactics that will inspire employees to carry out their responsibilities in an efficient manner and foster maximum output.
In a statement released on Friday, Hamzat made this request during his keynote speech at the Ministry staff’s two-day strategic retreat at Ijebu-Ode.
“Reinvigorating The Workforce for Increased Productivity” is the theme of the program.
“Reviving the workforce is essential for increased productivity and achieving sustainable success in the state Public Service while also enhancing efficient and effective service delivery,” stated the Commissioner.
The retreat will cover key topics that will enhance employees’ work and well-being, so attendees must make the most of the instruction to sharpen their abilities in order to fulfil the agency’s vision and mission and significantly contribute to both personal prosperity and the state’s ongoing development.
Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, opened the session by stating that the training was appropriate because it enables officials to realign with governmental objectives.
According to Onasanya, productivity in the public sector is the product of a workforce that is purpose-driven, motivated, and well-equipped rather than just hard work or effort.
He went on to say that the training would increase productivity even further across different agencies for efficient service delivery, stressing the need for ongoing worker capacity building to produce a productive workforce.
In his contribution, Hon. Razak Daddah, Special Advisor to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, stressed the importance of the training in building a prosperous and healthy nation and urged participants to apply what they had learnt to their respective fields of endeavour.
During his speech, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, revealed the Ministry’s vision and stated that the government had made local value reorientation, wealth development, employment creation, and poverty reduction its top priorities.
According to Akinlesi, the workshop’s goals were to identify problems and generate ideas for potential solutions in order to accomplish the Ministry’s established goals and the current administration’s ISEYA motto.
Deputy Director of Civil Litigations and Advisory at the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Richard Manuwa, stated in his lecture that in order to be effective and prevent mistakes that could end their career in the Civil Service, Civil Servants should make an effort to familiarise themselves with Public Service rules and other books.
