
In the local government area, PDP candidate Ighodalo received 24,938 votes, while APC contender Senator Monday Okpebholo received 30,780, according to results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In the Edo State governorship election, the People Democratic Party of Governor Godwin Obaseki was defeated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oredo Local Government Area.
Asue Ighodalo is the PDP’s candidate in the current election.
In the local government area, PDP candidate Ighodalo received 24,938 votes, while APC contender Senator Monday Okpebholo received 30,780, according to results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Olumide Akpata, the candidate for the Labour Party, received 5,389 votes according to the local election results.
In the meantime, it was previously announced that in the current election, Governor Obaseki had won his polling place.
PDP received 127 votes at polling unit PU19, ward 04, Oredo LGA, compared to 35 votes for the APC and 11 votes for the LP.
Following his vote, Obaseki praised the voting process and noted that despite the severe rain, a substantial turnout had participated.
He remarked, “It’s evident that a significant number of people came out in spite of the bad weather. The excitement is evident.”
He said, “My polling unit’s ballot box is already filled, and it’s not even midday yet. And since people have been mobilised, that indicates very clearly that people are highly interested. and have followed this election with great interest. I am not surprised for this reason.”
As of right now, everything in my units seems to be going smoothly, so I’m happy with that. I’m hoping for a similar collation procedure. There won’t be any destruction, and it will be a calm process with results that are counted,” he continued.
“I am pleased with the extent of military presence in the state,” said Obaseki, expressing his satisfaction with the security measures.
“As you are aware, the state has been taken over by the federal security services. The Inspector General of Police, or IGP, is the state’s chief security officer; I am not.”
