In the council elections that were conducted on Saturday, the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, won every one of the 260 political ward councillorship seats in the 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State.
This was said by Prof. Christian Ngwu, the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) Chairman, on Monday in Enugu during the results announcement.
According to Mr. Ngwu, the commission was examining the results of the councillorship election, which is why it postponed their announcement.
The PDP was pronounced the winner of all 17 state chairmanship seats by ENSIEC earlier on Sunday.
Mr. Ngwu, who served as the poll’s returning officer, stated that ENSIEC meticulously tallied and examined the results to make sure there were no errors or violations of electoral law.
All 260 ward councillorships across the state’s 260 political wards were won by the PDP.
The election was legitimately held, peaceful, equitable, free, and believable.
“ENSIEC made sure that all 17 political parties that took part in the polls on Saturday had equal opportunities to compete.
He declared, “The public will subsequently be informed of all the details of the councillorship election.”
He claims that the commission will shortly award Certificates of Return to the victors of the chairmanship and councillorship positions.
According to the chairman, there was no significant evidence of violence on Saturday during the polling.
According to him, there was no violence or breakdown of law and order during the polling, as far as the commission was aware.
