US judge issues ruling on Prince Harry’s request for a visa to the US

Carl Nichols, a US judge, has decided against making public Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex,’s application for an American visa.

Harry acknowledged taking drugs in his biography, but Judge Nichols decided that his US visa application should remain confidential.

The British Prince discussed his use of hallucinogenic mushrooms, cocaine, and marijuana in his memoir, which was published in January 2023.

The US government was sued by the right-wing Heritage Foundation, which wanted access to Harry’s immigration papers in order to find out if he had ever admitted to using drugs.

In his Monday ruling, Nichols stated that “disclosure of the duke’s immigration records is not strongly desired by the public.”

The public’s desire to see Harry’s immigration records made public is “outweighed by the duke’s privacy interest,” according to Nichols.

“Like any foreign national, the duke has a legitimate privacy interest in his immigration status,” the judge went on to say.

According to Judge Nichols, Prince Harry’s private interest is “outweighed” by the public’s interest in seeing his immigration documents made public.

Following their announcement that they will be leaving their royal duties, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, relocated to the US in January 2020.
