
Prof. Medinat Folorunsho Salman has been named the first Acting Vice Chancellor of the recently founded Kwara State University of Education (KWSUED) Ilorin by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Prior to her appointment as a professor of mathematics education, she held the positions of coordinator of the Educational Technology Centre at the University of Ilorin and senior lecturer in the scientific education department.
Folorunsho Salman received her education degree in 1985 from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, followed by her master’s and doctoral degrees in mathematics education from the same university in 1990, 1990, and 1998, respectively.
She is the first Ilorin Emirate woman to hold a professorship.
Her areas of interest in research are gender concerns in science and maths education, innovative approaches to teaching maths in developing nations, and mathematics education.
In an Ilorin statement on Tuesday, the governor’s chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, stated that the appointment is effective immediately.
