On Wednesday, Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, referred to the restoration of Muhammadu Sanusi ll as the Emir of Kano as one of the most significant moments in his life.

The Kano Emir was present for the former governor’s announcement at the Arewa Tech Fest in Kano.

“One of the most important events in my life is the reinstatement of his highness (Emir of Kano), and I want to congratulate you again,” El-Rufai remarked.

Aminu Ado Bayero became the next Emir of Kano when Sanusi was overthrown by former governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State.

Ganduje established other Emirates throughout the state and titled Bayero Emir of Kano.

But Bayero was overthrown by Governor Abba Yusuf, who restored Sanusi to his position as Kano’s emir.

After the state Assembly repealed the 2011 Kano Emirate Council law, Yusuf restored Sanusi.
