The police personnel are believed to be from Area C Police Command, Kafaru Oluwole Tinubu House, Surulere, Lagos State.
Three members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Lagos State were threatened with gunfire, and the Nigeria Police Force captured them on camera. On Friday, the employees’ orderly trial began.
Three NYSC members in Surulere, Lagos State, were allegedly the target of an extortion attempt on Thursday, according to information obtained by SaharaReporters.
The cops are from Kafaru Oluwole Tinubu House, Area C Police Command, Surulere, Lagos State, it was learnt.
During a stop-and-search operation, they are accused of intimidating the corps members.
A police officer is seen frightening the passengers of the car with a gun and demanding the occupants’ automobile paperwork in videos that Oluyemi Fasipe uploaded on X on Thursday night.
Dear @BenHundeyin, Fásípè (@YemieFash) wrote: Three corps members were extorted of one million naira by your officers in Surulere today. After being abducted and subjected to gun threats, they were taken to the @LagosPoliceNG’s KAFARU OLUWOLE TINUBU HOUSE AREA C POLICE COMMAND, where they were robbed. Their transgression involved the non-existence of a hard copy driver’s license. It is wicked.
One of the recordings also features an officer saying, “This one is fighting me, I give myself to the gun, somebody give me the gun, carry me here, and you are putting this kind of hand on me.”
Nonetheless, the police gave the order for someone to take off the driver’s license plate.
The Lagos Police Command Spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, provided an update on the matter in a different post on X, stating: “The men have been summoned and their trial has commenced.”
“We implore the complainants to come to the State Headquarters and testify in the current trial at the Complaint Response Unit.”
