According to the Anambra State Police Command, following a gunfight with miscreants in the state’s Igbo Ukwu/Ezinifite Uga region, it neutralised a suspected shooter.
In a statement issued on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed that the police had come across the armed individuals on Sunday night about 11:30 p.m. while conducting a normal patrol of the area.
Ikenga claimed that the men were involved in a gunfight with the police but were luckier in that one of them was murdered by the police while the others ran away.
“On 29/9/2024 by 11:30 pm, the police-led security force received information of suspected armed men sighted in a black-colored Prado Jeep along the Igbo Ukwu/Ezinifite Uga axis while on patrol within the Aguata LGA,” he stated.
“As the operatives advanced on the scene, they engaged the armed men in a gunfight, demobilising one of the miscreants while allowing the others to flee.”
Ikenga stated that a clearance operation had started in the region and that exhibits including criminal charms, armoured jackets, and AK-57 guns, among others, had been found.
Additionally, two AK-47 rifles, a pump action gun, two magazines filled with live ammo, fifteen live cartridges, a black Prado jeep with two distinct license plates, two police body armoured vests, three face caps, a black purse, and other kinds of illicit charms were found by the security forces.
The statement said, “Meanwhile, clearance operations are still ongoing; further details shall be communicated.”
