About 5,000 All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders from the Odigbo council area have defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the governorship election in Ondo State on November 16.
Alhaji Yusuf Abdulateef, the spokesperson, gave as his explanation for their departure the APC’s “bad governance” in Ondo State and Nigeria, which resulted in destitution, starvation, and high petrol prices.
Because we prioritise the masses, who suffer under the APC’s rule, we turned down their invitation to stay, Abdulateef stated. “We think Agboola Ajayi has the qualifications and experience to lead Ondo State back to prosperity.”
Dr. Eddy Olafeso, Chairman of the Ondo PDP Campaign Council, greeted the defectors, including the Iya Ikale group under the leadership of Mrs. Akinmoye, and assured them that PDP will live up to their promises.
Agboola Alfred Ajayi, Rt. Hon. Bakita Bello, Hon. Clement Faboyede, and Engr. Ademulegun were among the prominent PDP leaders in attendance.
In a similar event, Hon. Clement Faboyede welcomed APC members from Ajue who defected to the PDP and urged them to stick with the party and reap rewards.
