More than 300 Boko Haram terrorist organisation commanders have been killed by Nigerian security forces in the past year, according to President Bola Tinubu’s statement on Tuesday.
Numerous additional bandit gang commanders, particularly in the North-West and North-East, have also been eliminated.
In his National Broadcast on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the country’s independence, Tinubu provided the security report.
“Today, my fellow citizens, I am pleased to declare that the war against terror and banditry is being won by our administration.
“Our goal is to eradicate the menace of all violent extremism, as well as the risks posed by Boko Haram, banditry, and kidnapping for ransom.
Our administration has destroyed Boko Haram and the leaders of the bandit clique more quickly than in the past year.
“Our brave troops have eliminated over 300 Boko Haram and bandit commanders in the Northeast, Northwest, and some other parts of the country as of the last count.”
“Thousands of our people can now go back home, and we have brought peace back to hundreds of communities in the North.”
“Our security agencies are dedicated to resolving this unfinished business as soon as feasible.
“Our farmers can go back to their farms as soon as we are able to bring peace back to many of the communities in the troubled areas of the North.”
“We anticipate a sharp increase in food output and a sharp decline in food prices. We won’t give up on this, I swear to you,” he uttered.
