Meta introduces a new initiative that streamlines Facebook earning [How it works]

In an effort to increase content creators’ earning potential, Meta on Wednesday announced the opening of its Facebook Content Monetisation test program.

Reels, long-form videos, text articles, and photographs may all be monetised by artists using this effort, which was unveiled on Wednesday. It combines three important monetisation tools: in-stream ads, ads on reels, and the performance bonus.

By combining Facebook’s current monetisation initiatives, the new Meta program gives creators a single, unified way to make money in a variety of formats.

This is a positive development because, in the past, only roughly one-third of authors received payments from multiple Facebook-funded initiatives because of variations in availability and eligibility.

With Facebook paying out more than $2 billion in the last year alone, over four million creators have made money on the platform since 2017.

We are pleased with the ways in which our monetisation initiatives have contributed to the success of Facebook creators; however, we are also aware that the varying eligibility requirements, sign-up procedures, and availability of our programs have caused some creators to lose out on opportunities and others to not be able to receive payments in all formats. Only roughly one-third of Facebook creators who monetise their work currently make money from multiple Facebook-funded initiatives, according to the company’s data, which supports this claim.

Payouts for Reels and short-form videos have increased by more than 80% in the last year, contributing to a notable spike in earnings.

How Operates

The monetisation process is made simpler by the Content Monetisation beta by:

  1. Allowing authors to earn from diverse content formats through a single program.
  2. Providing uniform performance insights for simpler tracking

continuing to use a reward system dependent on performance.

One million artists who are now making money on Facebook have received invites from the social media giant, with open enrolment scheduled for 2025.

Through the monetisation option in the Professional dashboard or Meta Business Suite, creators who are interested in early access can sign up.

By making it simpler and more profitable for the creator community on Facebook to monetise their work, this calculated consolidation seeks to further empower them.
