In the Ngoshe Community of Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State, militants from Boko Haram are said to have killed five farmers and kidnapped fifteen more.
Shortly after Governor Babagana Zulum and President Bola Tinubu assured farmers of sufficient protection during their Independence Day speeches, the incident took place.
Five people were massacred by the terrorists when they struck during farmers’ work hours, according to sources. Jubril Zarana, a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), was also killed. Zarana heroically assisted security forces in repelling the attack.
Vanguard was informed by one of the sources that “we deeply regret to inform you of the abduction of approximately 15 farmers in Ngoshe, Gwoza Local Government Area by Boko Haram terrorists, including children, women, and the elderly.”
Jubril Dada Zarana, a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and five other civilians were also killed in the strike. The attackers ambushed the farmers while they were working in their fields.
Security forces, like as the Army and CJTF, did not succeed in deterring the attackers for very long. Tragically, Jubril Zarana was killed while protecting his neighbourhood; the other victims were taken prisoner.
“Five of the captives—Isa Musa Moh’d Diyara, Doglas, Salawuddin Suleman Dauda Lawan, Maryam Gwambran, and Baba Amos—were brutally executed by the terrorists after they reached their base.”
Later, the three female prisoners were let free. Another source said, “They said that a number of captives, including Hauwa Braga, Anna Andrew Gadzawaga, and two small boys, are still being held captive.
Babawo Kanin Shagari, Ummi Trabos, Babson Yaron Teacher, and a few more are still unaccounted for.
“To our fellow citizens of Gwoza, please keep these individuals in your prayers during this time of despair,” the statement read.
Instead of celebrating freedom, human rights, and development on this Independence Day, our people are feeling depressed, afraid, and despairing.
They prefer to stay in their nation out of love for it, despite great hardships and a lack of basic requirements. They said, “The little gardening they undertake to subsist comes at the danger of their lives, and neither the government nor NGOs have provided them with food supplies.
