Organisation praises Tinubu for increasing the corps allowance

President Bola Tinubu has received praise from the Arewa Youths Awareness on Leadership and Election for taking the welfare of National Youth Service Corps members into account when implementing the new national minimum wage.

In a press release released on Friday, the group’s chairman, Khamis Darazo, thanked the Federal Government for the gesture and noted that the group has noticed that the NYSC monthly allowance—which has been increased to N77, 000—is appropriate.

Darazo claims, “Given the rising cost of living in the nation, the increase in the monthly allowance of NYSC members is timely.”

“The additional stipend will assist the corps members in mitigating the impact of growing inflation, the escalating cost of living, increases in transportation and electricity costs, and the elimination of fuel subsidies.”

Khamis noted, “The government appears to be considerate of the suffering of the masses, who are traumatised by the current state of affairs in the country, as evidenced by the president’s magnanimity in approving the N77,000 allowance for corps members.”

Allow me to express my sincere gratitude for the federal government’s efforts in showing consideration for the plights of corps members during this difficult period when Nigeria is experiencing a severe economic slump.

Nigerians’ lives have been severely damaged in every way by the misery and poverty that have resulted from the country’s skyrocketing cost of living. My profound thanks go out to the president for this admirable gesture that shows his dedication to empowering Nigerian youth and recognising their unavoidable contributions to the country’s growth.

The president’s vision for a thriving Nigeria and his leadership characteristics are incredibly inspirational, Khamis emphasises. He also noted that the rise in allowance will favourably affect corps members’ morale and motivate them to give their utmost during their service year.

The group’s recognition of the Tinubu administration’s commitment to the welfare of its residents, including the corps members, was reaffirmed by him.
