The activist group “War Against Injustice” has demanded the activists’ immediate release and denounced the detention of activists in Kano State by Nigerian authorities.
The organization’s executive director, Comrade Umar Ibrahim Umar, signed a statement conveying this information.
Following an invitation from Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, on Monday, the Kano State Police unlawfully arrested and detained five members of the Nigeria Patriotic Front Movement (NPFM), including Comrade Abdulmajid Yakubu Daudu, the organization’s National Chairman. War Against Injustice strongly denounces this action.
They said that the police wanted to silence critics across the nation.
This act is indicative of a flagrant attempt to silence concerned Nigerians who are expressing their constitutional rights to free speech and peaceful assembly as well as international human rights norms.
In what appears to be a coordinated attempt to quell opposition, these patriotic Nigerians were brought from the Kano Police Headquarters to the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) in Abuja. We categorically demand their unconditional and immediate release.
“Barbar Yusha’u Sani Yankuzo, Barr. Abdulmajid Yakubu Daudu, Comrade. In addition, the statement said that Amina Bello, Comrade Sani NaRogo, Comrade Anas, and Comrade Abdullahi had their cell phones taken and were wrongfully imprisoned.
They asked the activists in custody be released immediately and without restrictions.
“A public expression of regret for these people’s rights violations and the suffering they experienced as a result of their erroneous arrest; restitution for their unjust incarceration and the seizure of their personal belongings, including cell phones.
