An explosion shakes the Rivers APC secretariat during the LG poll.

Explosions thought to be dynamite destroyed the All Progressives Congress secretariat along Aba Road in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, early on Saturday morning, shattering buildings and other property.

The blast wrecked windows, doors, and other items of property in addition to bringing down the secretariat’s gate.

This year, the Chief Tony Okocha-led APC has been the target of similar attacks at its secretariat twice.

The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission confirmed on Friday that all sensitive materials have been handed to the various local government areas. This comes just before the state’s local government elections, which are scheduled to take place today.

Our correspondent saw some workers at the facilities wandering around to assess the degree of damage in a viral video from the location of the tragedy.

When reached, Grace Iringe-Koko, a spokesperson for the state police command, stated she had not yet received a report on the matter but that she would follow up.

Regarding the incident, the party has not yet released a statement.
