Threatening to withdraw the Certificates of Occupancy from land parcels owned by well-known people and corporate entities in Abuja is the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
The FCTA said in a notification on Friday that landowners in Abuja’s Maitama district are affected by the notice and have two weeks to make any unpaid C of O payments or face having their property rights revoked.
The notice’s justification, according to the government, was the district’s infrastructure development.
A demand notice for payment of right of occupancy bills for issuing of Certificates of Occupancy on all lands assigned at Maitama II District, Cadastral Zone, A10, Abuja was sent to 3,273 allottees. The notification was valid for two weeks.
“The Federal Capital Territory Administration is carrying out infrastructural development in Maitama II (A10) District through the Federal Capital Development Authority,” the notice states.
It is thus informed that any allottees who have not paid their bills in full for the Certificate of Occupancy do so within two (2) weeks after the date of this publication.
“All affected allottees are notified that the honourable minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) may revoke the offers of Rights of Occupancy (R-of-O) over the aforementioned plots of land, and the lands may be reallocated, if all outstanding land bills, rents, fees, and charges are not paid within the grace period.”
