44 alleged internet scammers are detained by the EFCC in Enugu and Anambra

In various places around Enugu and Anambra States, agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) Enugu Zonal Directorate have taken 44 people into custody on suspicion of perpetrating online fraud.

This information was revealed by EFCC Spokesperson Dele Oyewale in a statement that was made public on Saturday in Abuja.

He claims that actionable intelligence connected the suspects to internet illegal activity led to the arrests on September 28 and 29.

Preliminary investigations conducted after the suspects were taken into custody showed that they had been tricking unsuspecting victims by using social media sites like Facebook and Instagram.

“While some individuals had forged documents on their devices, others utilised false identities to con foreign nationals into romantic relationships.

Furthermore, sophisticated mobile phones and laptops were found on the accused.

They will be charged in court after the investigations are finished, according to Oyewale.
