The public has been warned by Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara of possible violence planned by alleged gunmen at the 23 local government headquarters throughout the state today.
Fubara advised the newly elected local government chairpersons to embrace a peaceful approach to governing and to abstain from any kind of violence during the swearing-in ceremony held at the government house in Port Harcourt. He claimed that the dispute surrounding the most recent elections for local government had been settled.
When the chairpersons returned to work on Monday, Fubara forewarned them that they might encounter conflict. “I know they are assembling twenty men per unit to meet you tomorrow at your local government headquarters,” he said. Please stay away from them if they are violent in nature. We care too much about this state’s peace.
I implore you to adopt my strategy even though everyone is aware of what they have planned. You will always win when the time is right if you are calculated and patient. Our people have faith in us, and we will guide them to the Promised Land.
