Before my installation, Iwo was undeveloped—Oluwo

Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo, stated on Saturday that there had been occasions in the past when he was unable to tell people he was born in the town because there had not been any growth.

The monarch clarified that those times were before to his installation as Oluwo and said that since then, things have improved since he assumed the role of the town’s traditional ruler.

This was revealed by Oba Akanbi during the 8th annual Distinguished Role Model Award ceremony, which was held by The Wings School, Iwo, in honour of the town’s natives who have achieved professional achievement.

“When I googled Iwo before I became king, I couldn’t find much information about the town, and sometimes I can’t even tell people I’m from Iwo town,” Oba Akanbi stated. At that point, I either identify my hometown as Ibadan or Lagos.

But now that Iwo has developed, everyone is happy to be associated with us. Until we elevate Iwoland to the height we desire, we won’t stop.
